The firm honored three brokers for their achievements over the past year: Eli Rosen was voted his second consecutive Morris Hammer Salesperson of the Year award by his peers and was promoted to Vice President; Senior Vice President Joseph Brecher received the Deal of the Year award for the $135 million sale of the Lynnewood Gardens apartment complex in Elkins Park, Pa.; and David Jarvis was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President. Managing Director Ken Uranowitz presented Rosen with the Salesman of the Year Award and Managing Director Robert Ploshnick presented Joseph Brecher with the Deal of the Year Award. The Jarvis and Rosen promotions were announced by Executive Vice Presidents David Oropeza and Joel Schwartz, respectively. “Rosen, Brecher and Jarvis are exemplars of what a successful investment real estate broker should be: honest, hard-working and industry leaders in their respective markets,” said Uranowitz. “We are proud and honored to have them as part of the Gebroe-Hammer family”. “All three men have helped expand the reach of our company into new markets,” said Ploshnick. “A great deal of our recent growth can be directly traced to their efforts.” Gebroe-Hammer is among the tri-state region's most influential brokerage firms, specializing in the sale of multi-family, retail and commercial investment properties. The company provides innovative brokerage services to a wide range of private owners, REITS, private equity firms and other institutional investors. Gebroe-Hammer’s proven track record on behalf of its clients has resulted in consistent growth every year since its inception, with a large percentage of repeat business from owners and investors. Rosen earned recognition for successfully spearheading Gebroe-Hammer’s entry into the Philadelphia market over the past three years. Rosen previously garnered Salesman of the Year honors in 2006 when he reached transactional volume of $150 million and 1,860 units. Most recently, he completed the $20.5 million sale of Philadelphia Regency Apartments in North Philadelphia, which sold for a record per-unit price for that neighborhood. “Eli has proven to be the ideal person to lead the firm’s expansion across the Delaware,” said Uranowitz. “Under his leadership, Philadelphia became one of the central drivers of our recent growth and success.” Brecher received the Deal of the Year Award for the $135 million sale of Lynnewood Gardens, in Elkins Park, Pa. Sprawled along Montgomery County's border with Philadelphia, Lynnewood Gardens is one of the nation’s largest apartment complexes with 1,696 one- and two-bedroom units, plus 102 three-bedroom townhomes. The expansive residential property sits on 122 landscaped acres and features amenities such as an Olympic-size swimming pool and diving well. Its location, 25 minutes from Center City, offers residents easy access to the PA Turnpike and to public transportation with on-site shuttle service to the Elkins Park station. Brecher closed the deal in less than 30 days. In nearly 14 years at Gebroe-Hammer, Jarvis built a reputation as an expert in inner-city real estate. During that time, he sold more multi-family units in Newark than any other broker in the state. His expertise extends beyond the cities. In 2007, he completed the $12.3 million sale of Ridgewood Commons, a luxury apartment complex in South Orange, N.J., his third sale of this property in the last five years, and the $8 million sale of Hudson Valley Apartments, a garden apartment complex in Garnerville, N.Y. Mel Gebroe and Morris Hammer founded Gebroe-Hammer Associates in 1975. Uranowitz, Ploshnick and Senior Vice President Nancy Reilly also have been with the company for its entire existence. Schwartz and Oropeza have been with the firm for 30 and 21 years, respectively. “This party is our way of celebrating the people who have made the company so successful,” said Chairman Mel Gebroe. “Thanks to their efforts, the company has turned into the fast-growing industry-shaping force that it is today.” ### An industry leader for more than three decades, Gebroe-Hammer is among the tri-state region's most influential brokerage firms, specializing in the sale of multi-family, retail and commercial investment properties.
